Welcome to Tim McNeil
Wines

Tim McNeil Wines is located in the beautiful Clare Valley in the home of Riesling country, Watervale. As a family owned and operated winery, we produce small batches of premium wines using Estate grapes and local growers. Our Cellar Door opened in October 2012 and situated at nearly 500m above sea level, it enjoys enviable views of the Watervale surrounds and beyond.

Geography

At 500 metres above sea level we are one of the highest in the Clare Valley

Climate

Our high elevation generates cool nights during our hot summers, ensuring a slow and even ripening of fruit.

Soils

Rock, loam and sand combine to produce low yields of exceptional quality.

Grapes

Our small vineyard produces Riesling & Shiraz grapes of the highest quality

Taste

Classic Watervale Riesling flavours and smooth Clare Valley Shiraz.

Winemaking

All our wine is produced in house from our estate grown vines by Tim McNeil.

The Wines

The Tim McNeil Premium
Range

Tim has produced a range of premium wines that reflect the strengths of the Clare Valley by using the magnificent conditions of rainfall, temperature, elevation and terroir. Key varietals of Riesling and Shiraz are part of the stable with a Reserve Riesling showing the class of the region to produce a fine and delicate wine. With gold medals for the 2008 and 2010 Shiraz at the 2012 Clare Valley Regional Wines Show; a gold medal for the 2013 Reserve Watervale Riesling at the 2013 Canberra International Riesling Challenge and a trophy at the 2011 Clare Valley Wine Show for the outstanding 2010 Watervale Riesling the current and future vintages are in good stead.

GOLD MEDAL - Canberra International Riesling Challenge 2013. The 2013 Reserve Watervale Riesling was awarded a Gold Medal at the 2013 Canberra International Riesling Challenge. To be rated so highly among other outstanding Riesling producers is a fantastic result for our boutique winery and is testament to the region, terroir and style.

2011 RESEVE WATERVALE RIESLING - 95 POINTS. In the elevated epicentre of Watervale, with limestone underfoot, directly surrounded by the famous vineyards of the region, Tim McNeil's vines could not be more enviably positioned. His top wine reflects the place with utmost precision.

2010 CLARE VALLEY SHIRAZ - 95 POINTS. Dense purple-crimson extending to the rim; the wine spent 24 months in French oak, 20% new; it is densely packed with blackberry, black cherry, plum and licorice fruit framed by ripe tannins and integrated oak. It has the balance and richness to sustain a very long life. Drink by 2050.

2011 WATERVALE RIESLING - 94 POINTS WBM. Tim McNeil offers a slice of one of Watervale's finest vineyards, beautifully represented in a wine of chalky minerality and pronounced granny smith apple fruit.
